Congratulations to the 2025 graduates of the TICUA Executive Leadership Institute!

Over the past nine months, these exceptional leaders—our Pressnell Fellows—have embarked on a journey designed to strengthen leadership in private higher education.

Through expert-led sessions, campus-based learning, and peer collaboration, they’ve developed the skills and vision needed to lead with integrity, strategy, and heart. We celebrate their achievement and look forward to the impact they will continue to make across Tennessee and beyond!

TICUA’S Executive Leadership Institute

DEADLINE: JUNE 6, 2025

We are currently seeking members of your senior staff to serve as 2025-26 Pressnell Fellows in the TICUA Executive Leadership Institute (ELI). The TICUA Leadership Initiatives have been an overwhelming success, and we are excited for what’s to come in 2025-25!

ELI Selection Form

The Institute serves as a leadership development program for senior campus leaders. It not only aims to equip senior campus officials with the leadership knowledge and skills necessary to prepare for a presidency, but more importantly, it is designed to strengthen the leadership team on each campus.

Each TICUA member president is invited to select one senior campus official to participate as a Pressnell Fellow in the 2025-26 Institute.Some presidents have selected Fellows based on their perceived potential for presidential leadership, while others have chosen Fellows to further develop leadership skills for key campus positions. We also appreciate your consideration of gender, age, ethnic, and racial diversity in your selection process.

The Institute will hold monthly sessions at select TICUA member institutions, with the president of the host institution serving as Residential Dean during the two-day visit. Sessions will begin in September 2025, with graduation occurring in May 2026.

Advancing Leaders Summit

DEADLINE: THIS FRIDAY

JUNE 6, 2025

There are only a few days left for Member Campuses to select the two advancing leaders who will participate in this year’s Advancing Leaders Program!

The TICUA Advancing Leaders Program provides aspiring leaders an opportunity to evaluate their own skills, gifts, and calling against the primary leadership needs in today’s private higher education environment.

Advancing Leader Selection Requirements

Faculty, staff, and administrators, with three to five years of experience in a leadership role, who aspire to an executive level position in academics, advancement and marketing, athletics, enrollment management, finance and administration, information technology, plant and facilities, or student affairs will find the Program of value.

Civil Rights Laws and False Claims Act: What Colleges and Universities Need to Know Now

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on May 19, 2025, that it would use the False Claims Act (FCA) against institutions and contractors receiving federal funding that "knowingly" violate federal civil rights laws and have certified their compliance with such statutes.

The DOJ cited diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs maintained by federal contractors and alleged antisemitism on university campuses as potential areas where the law could be implicated.

United Educators (UE) has partnered with leading education consulting firm Grand River Solutions to offer UE-insured colleges and universities expanded tools for mitigating sexual misconduct risk and promoting educational environments free from harassment and discrimination.
