Nursing Scholarship
To be administered by the
Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA)
Purpose: The purpose of the Hospital Alliance of Tennessee (HAT) Nursing Scholarship is to support outstanding nursing students seeking to complete their education in preparation for service in a Tennessee nonprofit hospital.
Scholarship Program: The HAT Nursing Scholarship program is being created to support outstanding Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree students and RN-to-BSN completion degree students.
- Applicants must be attending a nursing program at an institution which is a member of TICUA.
- Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic performance.
- Non-Registered nursing applicants seeking a BSN will receive the scholarship for the final two years of their academic program, provided they remain in good standing.
- RN-to-BSN recipients will receive the scholarship for the length of their program, not to exceed two years of study, provided they remain in good standing.
- Applicants must be selected by the Dean or Director of the nursing program.
- Applicants should strongly consider employment at a Tennessee based non-profit hospital for a minimum of two years after graduation and licensure. (Not required)
Scholarship Amount:
- The award amount is $5,000 annually for two years – for a total of $10,000 per recipient.
Selection Process
- TICUA member colleges or universities may submit one applicant per cycle (every other year).
- The Dean or Director of the nursing program will make the campus selection and must submit a brief recommendation for the applicant.
- The student nominee must write a brief essay (500 words or less) describing their decision to choose the nursing career and why they might be interested in working in a nonprofit hospital.
- Applicants must submit a current copy of their college or university transcript and a current copy of their resume.
- Applications will be collected by TICUA and distributed to the HAT Nursing Scholarship selection committee.
- The selection committee will comprise of 3-5 Tennessee nonprofit hospital administrators.
- The recipient of the scholarship will be announced in late spring or early summer and funds will be distributed prior to each semester.
