From her early work in Zimbabwe to her current role at East Carolina University, Dr. Martha Raile Alligood’s life of scholarship and service exemplifies the mission and values of Johnson University to educate students for Christian ministries and other strategic vocations framed by the Great Commission in order to extend the kingdom of God among all nations.

Dr. Alligood is a scholar who has authored two textbooks, contributed chapters to more than 30 other books, participated in dozens of original research projects, and published more than 85 articles. She is an educator, having served in faculty positions at both private and public institutions where she taught classes, supervised research, served on dissertation committees, and mentored future nurses. And she is a leader, serving on faculty senate and administrative councils, boards, search committees, and review panels. She has served on the Johnson University Board of Trustees since 2010.
