Pulitzer Prize Winning Biographer, Contributor to the New York Times & The Youngest Editor-in-Chief of Newsweek, Historian and Professor Inducting Institution: The University of the South Jon Meacham embodies the Sewanee virtues to help us understand and process important issues and events of the past and present in all their complexities. After graduating from the University of the South in 1991, Meacham went on to be the youngest editor of a leading weekly magazine, a Pulitzer Prize winning author and a highly sought-after speaker and skilled raconteur. Meacham received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University in 2005 and holds honorary doctorates from Middlebury College, Wake Forest University, the University of Tennessee, Dickinson College, Sewanee, Loyola New Orleans, Loyola Baltimore, Emmanuel College, and several other institutions. |
