Milligan University alum John Ross Wright Jr. has become the first Tennessee principal to win the prestigious Terrel H. Bell Award. 

Wright, principal at West Side Elementary School, was one of 10 principals from across the nation to win the 2020 Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership. The honor is given to school leaders who are committed to education.

Wright Graduated from Milligan University with a Masters in Education.

In 2019-20, TICUA member colleges and universities graduated over 2,600 educators, helping to combat a nation-wide teacher shortage.
