TICUA member institutions impact their communities economically, culturally and socially. Mayor Pat Ford shares why
Martin Methodist College enhances the city of Pulaski.
“Martin Methodist College serves as a vital extension of our community. For a smaller, rural community like ours, a four-year learning institution certainly has a major impact in multiple ways.
First, Martin provides us with a professional workforce--teachers, ministers, nurses, chemists, professionals in business and industry. The new opportunities now available with the MBA, the MS in Criminal Justice, and Public Health Education have come at the right time, given the world we live in.
Second, Martin Methodist College injects millions of dollars into the economy: local restaurants, retail shops and businesses feel the economic boom when the college is in full swing. The students and campus life bring a vibrant atmosphere felt outside the bounds of the campus. Events that are part of a college town are educational, cultural and fun--and not exclusively offered to students, but to the residents of Pulaski and surrounding areas.
Third, Martin Methodist is a good neighbor, with students, faculty, and staff volunteering and working across the community. The warm and welcoming feel you receive on the campus is exactly the same feel we brag about to visitors who come to our city.
Again, we are so blessed to have Martin Methodist as part of our community, offering a perfect example of the strong bond between town and gown.”
