Campus Reopening Resources

TICUA Hall of Fame
Tennessee’s Independent Colleges and Universities are home to some of our state’s most distinguished and impressive residents— from Nobel laureates, Grammy-winning artists and Pulitzer Prize winners to faith leaders, entrepreneurs and government leaders.

The TICUA Hall of Fame will recognize these distinguished alumni, their indelible contributions to our state and country, and the institutions who helped shape them.

TICUA is requesting submissions to the inaugural class of the TICUA Hall of Fame! We are excited to begin sharing out the inductees in the very near future. More information can be foundhere.
ELI 2020 Final Session
The 2020 Executive Leadership Institute Fellows completed their final session May 13, virtually. The session focused on Leadership Transitions with Dr. Bob Fisher, president, Belmont University; Dr. Tommy Smith, president, Johnson University; Dr. Harley Knowles, president, Tennessee Wesleyan University; and, Dr. Alisa White, president, Austin Peay State University & Lee University alum, serving as content faculty. Each president shared their “leadership story” and responded to questions from the Fellows.

The Class of 2020 will graduate from the Institute on September 15th. Additionally, TICUA will celebrate the 5th anniversary of ELI. TICUA invites all ELI alums, content faculty, and TICUA member presidents to join in the celebration. Belmont University, and President Bob Fisher, will host these events.

Additionally, TICUA member institutions, as a result of legislative action, have the option of purchasing from State of Tennessee contracts. TheTN Smart Shopis an e-marketplace of active statewide contracts where member institutions can leverage the buying power of the state government to purchase goods and services.

TICUA President Spotlight

Each month, TICUA highlights leaders at our member institutions.This month we would like to welcomeCharles Fowler, who became the President ofCarson-Newman Universityin November 2019.Fowler previously served as senior pastor of Germantown Baptist Church in West Tennessee since 2010. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president of University Relations at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, after more than 15 years in various roles including vice president for Enrollment Management, vice president for Development, and several others. In addition, he has taught at Mississippi State University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His other leadership roles have included serving on the board of trustees for the International Mission Board, Baptist Memorial Healthcare, Union University, Blue Mountain College and the Leadership Council for the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, as well as being chaplain for the city of Germantown.
